Did you know that our ancestors started fires just by rubbing two sticks together? Join primitive-skills expert, Tim “PrimiTim” Swanson, to learn and practice the ancient skill of fire-making.  He’ll show us different methods of producing a spark, from sticks to bow drills to flint. Then practice making a spark yourself, and breathing that spark into a small flame.  All ages are welcome to participate at whatever level you are comfortable with and adult supervision is required.

Tim “PrimiTim” Swanson has degrees in Adventure Education Leadership and Adventure Therapy and is a survival skills instructor with over 10 years of experience.  He works with all ages encouraging people to connect with the earth by learning and practicing ancient living skills.  Please visit his site at  www.facebook.com/primitimswanson for more information.

Enjoy this program and more at the all-NEW Discovery Museum! In our new, 16,000sf building we’ve re-created the best hands-on STEAM exhibits from our original two museums—for little kids, big kids, and their grownups—and added many exciting new ones, including water, air, making/tinkering, and more! Come play!
