The first of a series of five weekly 2-hour sessions to advance your plucking skills and playing with others in an ensemble. Bring your ukulele, tuner and music stand.
5 Saturdays 2 hrs : 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15
What you will learn
1.Warm-up exercises to build right-hand finger dexterity for plucking accompaniment
2.Exercises for left-hand and tab-reading
3.Classical ukulele arrangements
4.Three part arrangement: melody, pluck accompaniment, strum accompaniment
5.Four part arrangement: three part plus countermelody
6.Repertoire for ensemble playing
Pre-requisites: students who have taken Anne’s Fingerstyle Ukulele, or can do the following
1.Read tablature and fingering for left and right hands
2.Distinguish between rest stroke and free stroke
3.Play an octave of the chromatic scale from open C up and back on one string; on three strings
4.Play an octave of C major scale on one string; on three strings
5.Play the arpeggio accompaniment for an entire song with and without accent
Pay $150 for all five sessions at once in the beginning or $35 per session. Includes handouts but not books: $20 for Arpeggio Meditations. $25 for ‘Tis the Season for Ukulele. $20 Classical Uke, all available on site. This series will continue after five sessions pending sufficient enrollment.
