The Boston Comedy Festival Kicks 19th annual week of laughter.
TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2018 @ 8PM Movie Premiere Sweeney Killing Sweeney. In the movie: Aging Boston standup comic Sweeney, The Character King (Steve Sweeney), gets a shot at a national cable special in Los Angeles. The only caveat is that Sweeney must drop the locally referenced colorful Boston characters that have become a staple of his home field success. Sweeney makes the hard decision to cut the characters out of his act. But, to his dismay, the characters come-to-life and seek their revenge; they try to kill him. Sweeney is a gritty fantasy about never giving up on your dreams no matter what kind of nightmares may come from them. Also staring local comedy legends Tony V, Frank Santorelli & Jonathan Katz, with cameos by Steven Wright, Lenny Clarke, Nick DiPaolo & Bobby Slayton. Written by Bill Braudis and directed by Lisa Aimola. The Film will be followed by a short celebrity panel of the cast writer and director of the film.
