In 1982, Argentina and the UK fought the Malvinas/Falklands War. The war ended with the British military victory and took about 1,000 lives, both British and Argentinean. While the conflict took place years ago, the sovereignty of the islands is still in dispute today.

Lola Arias - Argentine writer, theatre/film director and performer - presents Theatre of War which tells the story of how three British and three Argentine veterans from the Malvinas/Falklands War came together almost thirty-five years after the conflict to discuss their war memories and rehearse a re-enactment.

Theatre of War playfully switches between reality and fiction as it explores the collateral effects of war by transforming soldiers into actors, and their war experiences into a story from different perspectives. The film brings together former enemies to perform their wartime and post-war nightmares. The same ensemble was originally brought together to create Arias’ 2016 theatrical production, Minefield, which is currently touring the United States.

Immediately following the screening, there will be an in person conversation with the artist Lola Arias moderated by Noe Montez of Tufts University.
