You don’t need a car to have a beach day from Boston… you can take the ferry instead! Here’s how to get from downtown Boston to Hull’s Nantasket Beach.
Head to Long Wharf, located by the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel. There are multiple ferry terminals here for whale watches, to the Boston Harbor Islands, etc. — be sure to board the ferry on the side of the hotel closest to the North End Trellis and the restaurant “Tia’s”. You will see a sign here that points to the “Hingham/Hull Ferry”.
Tickets to Hingham/Hull are $9.75 each way. This ferry is one of Massachusetts's year-round ferries: Hingham/Hull Commuter Ferry travels between Boston, Logan International Airport, Hingham, and Hull.
The ride is only about 30 minutes long. Enjoy the views as you pull out of the Boston Harbor and head to a quick stop at Logan Airport. I recommend sitting on the top deck! Then, head downstairs to enjoy the comfy seats, air conditioning, and bar. There’s beer, wine, soft drinks, and snacks sold on board.
You have 2 options for getting to Nantasket Beach:
1. Get off at Hingham and call an Uber from the Hingham Ferry Terminal to the Nantasket Beach Resort. This Uber ride should cost no more than $10-12 and takes about 8 minutes. This beach resort is located very centrally with several bars, restaurants, and shops around so it’s a good place to hangout for the day!
2. Alternatively, and slightly cheaper — you can ride the ferry to Hull and get off at the Hull Ferry Terminal. From here, you can board Bus 714 to the beach. It costs as little as $1.50 and will make several stops along the beach. You can choose to get off wherever you would like!
FYI: Parking at Nantasket Beach is about $30 for the lots, as the metered spots are often full. Using the MBTA Commuter Ferry is a more affordable way to have a beach day from Boston.
As for recommendations for your day trip in Hull, you should:
Enjoy the day!
