Welcome to the Harvard Farmers' Market!

Opening Day is TUESDAY, JUNE 21, 2022!

Join us at the market every Tuesday from 11:30am-5:30pm (*no Market on 8/30), and help support the vital local farmers and food artisans who ensure we have fresh, healthy, safe food!

We will continue to accept SNAP with a weekly maximum SNAP Match of $15.

About the market:

The Market was founded in 2005, and operates on The Plaza outside Harvard’s Science Center (near the corner of Oxford and Kirkland Streets). The Farmers’ Market at Harvard accepts SNAP, Women, Infant & Children (WIC) coupons, and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) coupons. The Harvard Farmer's Market also doubles the value of EBT purchases up to $15 per week. Donate here to support SNAP Match, the organization that makes this possible.

More Information about SNAP, HIP, WIC and Senior FMNP Coupons:

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program): SNAP is a federal program that provides a monthly benefit to buy nutritious foods. SNAP benefits can be used to purchase any food for the household such as:

Fruits and vegetables;
Meat, poultry, and fish;
Dairy products;
Breads and cereals;
Other foods such as snack foods and non-alcoholic beverages; and
Seeds and plants, which produce food for the household to eat.
As a member of the Cambridge SNAP Match Coalition, the Farmers’ Market at Harvard doubles SNAP dollars (up to $15 per market day)
Bring your EBT card to the Market Manager’s table to purchase SNAP Market Bucks.

The manager will swipe your card and the amount purchased is deducted from your SNAP account.

SNAP Market Bucks purchased will be doubled (up to $15 per Market day). Example: If you purchase $15 with your SNAP/EBT card, we will give you $30 in Market Bucks to spend with vendors on SNAP eligible products.
Use the SNAP coupons on any SNAP-eligible items.
HIP (Healthy Incentives Program): HIP is a statewide program that provides additional funding to SNAP recipients for the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables and cut herbs.
Purchase fruits and vegetables directly from a HIP authorized vendor using your EBT card and the amount of sale will be automatically reimbursed, it’s an instant rebate. No Market Bucks needed.
HIP can be used directly with participating vendors.

WIC (Women, Infants and Children): WIC is a free nutrition program that helps families with children under five get healthy food and learn how to eat well. It also supports pregnant women, infants and new moms. WIC Farmers’ Market coupons will buy fresh fruits and vegetables and cut herbs.
Coupons can be used directly with participating vendors.

Senior FMNP Coupons: Qualifying seniors can use these coupons to buy fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh cut herbs and honey. Other items available for sale at the market cannot be purchased with farmers’ market coupons.
Coupons can be used directly with participating vendors.

Why buy local?

It builds community. Buying directly from farmers at markets allows you to understand the processes that make up food systems, gives you insight into the seasons and the land, and creates a connection between you and the people who grow your food.

It benefits the environment. Small-scale farms conserve soil and important fields, meadows, and surrounding open spaces that are crucial to maintaining a healthy environment.

It supports local families. When you buy directly from a local farmer, you allow them to sell their produce for full price. By selling at retail, instead of at wholesale prices to middlemen, family farms are able to generate a profit and stay on their land.
