Let's hike the famous "Fliberty" loop and peak-bag two 4,000 footers, Mt. Flume (4.3K) and Mt. Liberty (4.6K).
We will be taking the much obvious Flume Slide Trail to Liberty Spring Trail Loop covering a total of 9.8 miles.
The first part of this trail is fairly easy but the last mile toward Mount flume is extremely steep, with loose rocks and can be slippery when wet. If you enjoy rock scrambling/climbing, you will love this hike as it has some very steep sections that require some climbing! Then we will head toward Mount Liberty that offers amazing views of the peaks surrounding Franconia Notch State Park. We will hike down by Liberty Spring trail back to the parking lot.
Due to the popularity of the trail, We will be starting a little earlier due to avoid trail traffic.
Please note that this hike is not suitable for beginners due to the nearly vertical climb approaching flume.
You must have hiked several 4,000 Footers to join this trip. If is your first hike, please consider gaining some experience on other easier trails before you attempt this. You must be in good shape to join this hike. Do not over exaggerate your capability!
Must have(s) (no exceptions):
Hiking boots and hiking poles.
Extra pairs of socks
Raincoats/ Rain pants
Headlamps
No cotton layers, think something that dries quick and keeps you warm.
Safety kit.
2-3L water + electrolytes. Preferentially in an insulated thermoflask.
Snacks/ meal.
Optional:
Optimism and smile.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
