Join Scott E. Squillace, Esq., for an in-depth program exploring the unique estate planning considerations affecting same-sex couples and non-traditional families. In the wake of shifting federal administrations, LGBTQ+ individuals have faced evolving questions about marriage rights, legal protections, and long-term planning. The current federal administration has renewed concerns within the community about potential erosion of rights.
This program will trace the history of LGBTQ+ rights and the development of key case law, examining how these legal changes impact estate planning today. Attendees will gain insight into the advantages and disadvantages of marriage from tax and estate perspectives, as well as the specialized planning strategies available to same-sex couples. Mr. Squillace will also discuss emerging risks in the current political climate and outline proactive steps attorneys and clients can take to safeguard their interests.
This program is hosted by the Boston Public Library Fund, the primary fundraising arm of the BPL.
