This is an event on the one month anniversary of the murder of George Floyd to remember him and start a local conversation about anti-racism.
1. To Honor the lives of black people, like George
Floyd, murdered by Police.
2. To Raise up Voices of color in Belchertown.
3. To Break white silence about racism in
Belchertown.
4. To Start a long term conversation about racial
justice, accountability and community solidarity in
Belchertown.
This will be a stationary vigil on the Belchertown Common from 6:30-8:30pm to honor the lives of George Floyd and the many other people of color who have been murdered at the hands of the police. We will be sharing the art, writing, and music of people effected by this in our community, and will honor their lives and his with a moment of silence.
Proper social distance will be measured out and clearly marked on the common to provide a safe framework for where households can stand/sit while staying properly distant and safe.
Please Bring a mask, water, and chairs/blanket if you’d like them.

Los objetivos de este evento son:
1. Honorar las vidas de las personas negras que, como George Floyd, fueron asesinadas por la Policía.
2. Alzar las voces de las personas de Color en Belchertown.
3. Romper el silencio blanco que acalla el racismo en Belchertown.
4. Empezar una conversación a largo plazo sobre justicia, responsabilidad, y solidaridad racial en la comunidad de Belchertown.
Una protesta pacífica tendrá lugar en la plaza común de Belchertown desde las 6:30pm hasta las 8:30pm para honorar las vidas de George Floyd y de todas aquellas personas de color que han sido asesinadas a manos de la policía. Compartiremos arte, literatura, y música creada por personas que se han visto afectadas por esta violencia en nuestra comunidad, y honoraremos sus vidas con un minuto de silencio.
La distancia social adecuada se medirá y se marcará claramente en la plaza para proporcionar un espacio donde poder sentarse o quedarse de pie y permanecer distanciados al mismo tiempo de una forma segura.
Por favor traiga una mascarilla, agua, y si lo prefiere, sillas o una manta donde sentarse.
