Join us in celebrating EMW Community Library's 2nd Anniversary with featured author Margaret Cezair-Thompson! This year's theme "Exploration: Past and Presence" examines how our histories shape the present and offer a map toward a better future.

Margaret Cezair-Thompson is a Jamaican author and professor of literature and creative writing at Wellesley College. Her first book "The True History of Paradise," in which a young woman struggles to come to terms with her past during the political unrest and violence in 1980s Jamaica was short-listed for the Dublin International I.M.P.A.C. award. Her following book "The Pirate’s Daughter," was a London Times Best Seller and won the Essence Literary Award for Fiction in 2008. Cezair-Thompson's work explores Jamaica's history and the individual quest for place and identity within the tumult of history at large. She is interested in colonial, postcolonial, and gender issues in literature; the Atlantic Slave Trade and African diaspora in literature; and images of Africa and the Caribbean in nineteenth century English literature.
