Three Latinx organizations in Massachusetts, Hyde Square Task Force, Amplify Latinx, and Ágora Cultural Architects, come together to keep Latino culture buzzing with #CadenciaLatina: Performances from home.

On June 21st at 7pm, Eli Pabón, a dancer, lyricist, singer, instructor, educator, and percussionist will be leading us with dance moves (in Reggaeton, Dembow, and Timbaton) that we can all do together on Facebook Live. Pabón was born & raised in Boston however proudly represents her Puerto Rican heritage with her performances and musical talents. At a young age she learned to play percussion instruments as well as dance traditional folkloric and modern Latin American dances such as Bomba, Plena, Salsa, and Hip Hop, among others. She has been able to translate her strong passion for dance into a teaching opportunity for her community in Boston. Pabón is a dance and performing arts teacher at the Ellison Parks School in Boston, as well as an Artist Collective member of MetaMovements where she coordinates, hosts, and teaches workshops in the greater Boston area. Additionally she is the founder of BOMBAntillana, which aims to explore traditional Puerto Rican culture and dances through a series of workshops. Tune in on Metamovements Latin Dance Company's Facebook Page and enjoy this amazing performance from the safety of your home.

While we have your attention ;) : Let’s make sure Latinxs are seen and heard every day. Take the opportunity to visit https://2020census.gov/ and fill out the Census. Latinxs make up an undercounted group, which puts us at a disadvantage that could mean less funding and political voice.

About the organizations:

Amplify Latinx is a non-partisan, collaborative movement whose mission is to build Latinx economic and political power by significantly increasing Latinx civic engagement and representation in leadership positions across sectors.

Hyde Square Task Force’ s mission is to amplify the power, creativity, and voices of youth, connecting them to Afro-Latin culture and heritage so they can create a diverse, vibrant Latin Quarter and build a just, equitable Boston. HSTF is the managing partner of Boston's Latin Quarter, which is a culturally, racially, and economically diverse cultural district located in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood that aims to preserve and uplift its rich Afro-Latin history and culture.
