The coronavirus pandemic upended education. Educators were forced to reinvent how they approach students and material almost overnight. As a challenging year comes to a close, more students and educators imagine what the “new normal” should look like. We examine the innovations that students and teachers hope will stay, and the new ways educators are supporting students through the losses of the pandemic.

Join WBUR senior education reporter Carrie Jung for a conversation with students and educators to discuss hopes and fears for learning after the pandemic. We’ll gather again early in the next school year to check in, discussing successes, difficulties and where improvements could continue to be made.

Panelists
Ulana Ainsworth - inclusion kindergarten teacher and teacher leader, Curtis Guild Elementary School in Boston

Elijah Heckstall - principal, Dudley Street Neighborhood Charter School

Brittany Jenney - ESL teacher, New Bedford High School

Kathleen Smith - interim superintendent, Weymouth Public Schools
