Raised in Southern California, singer-songwriter Eddie Berman has been writing songs since he was a teenager. His bedroom demos have earned substantial play on the California-based public radio station KCRW-FM. Berman has recorded and played throughout North America and Europe. In fact, he performed for several thousand people over dozens of sold-out London residency shows in partnership with singer Laura Marling.
While recording a live EP with Marling in 2013, Berman realized that the way to make a record was to strip the process down to get to the essence of the song. His new debut album, Before the Bridge, does just that. The album was produced by Pierre de Reeder in Kingsize North, his Los Angeles studio. Berman and his supporting cast cut the 10 tunes on this record in only two days. The tight time frame didn't give them time to overthink the arrangements or fret over every point of possible imperfection. The songs on Before the Bridge are stark and honest examinations of the impulses, neuroses, and desires that push each of us from one day into the next.
