Carl Straussner and Raley Beggs, both NEC alumni under grand maestro Eliot Fisk, team up to form a dynamic guitar duo bringing you music from the Renaissance music of Dowland and Johnson, through the height of baroque with works from J.S Bach, to the quintessential guitar repertoire of Gaspar Sanz, Fernando Sor and Mauro Giuliani. Please join us as we share in the communion of music!
Carl Straussner is a Classical Guitarist, Composer, and Audio Engineer from Johannesburg, South Africa. After completing a bachelor’s degree in Performance and Composition at the University of the Witwatersrand, Carl travelled to Boston to complete his master’s degree in Classical Guitar Performance under Eliot Fisk.
In addition to being a soloist and chamber musician that regularly performs concerts in the United States and South Africa, Carl also thrives as a collaborative artist in the digital sphere. Whether it be arranging show tunes for big bands, composing music for animations, directing and producing radio documentaries, or collaborating with other artists to come up with something completely new, Carl continuously seeks to break boundaries and find new ways of expression through music.
Raley Beggs plays guitar. Acoustic, nylon string guitar. Lots of people call that classical guitar. He has two degrees in classical guitar. One from Florida State University, another from New England Conservatory of Music. When he isn’t performing music, he’s teaching it. At Bridgewater State University, Middlesex Community College, EKS Music School, or at home in Jamaica Plain Massachusetts.
In addition, he sometimes sings songs to a cell phone and posts them on the internet. He uses his middle name, Raley Delk.
