In this workshop, participants will learn how to carve and print a woodblock from beginning to end. During the first day of this workshop, participants will learn how to prep the block and begin drawing a still life directly onto the surface of the block. A variety of mark-making techniques will be demonstrated, and participants will begin carving their images. The second day of the workshop will be focused on printing the woodblocks, covering different options for ink and paper. Participants will have the opportunity to print proofs of their blocks and rework their images before printing multiples. At the end of the workshop, participants will walk away with a small edition of woodblock prints.
Participants are responsible for bringing newsprint and paper for printing. Select papers will be available for purchase on-site. All other materials will be provided.
