Carry on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Craft a care package for families in need, or plant a seed and support The New Garden Society's work providing horticulture training for incarcerated students in the Greater Boston area. Excerpts of Dr. King's speeches will play every hour in the Courtyard.


Free admission will be available at the Museum entrance on Monday, January 21 on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission includes access to the entire Museum, including special exhibitions. To ensure everyone's experience at the Museum is pleasant, entry is timed every 30 minutes, beginning at 11 am, with the last entry at 4 pm.


Due to capacity regulations, the Museum may only admit a specific number of visitors at once. For your safety and the safety of the collection, visitors may be asked to wait in line to enter. For the safety of the collection, we cannot accommodate groups of 8 or more on days of free admission.

Community Projects // Bertucci Education Studio
11 am - 4 pm


Craft a care package for families served by the Elizabeth Stone House, a local organization partnering with adult and child survivors of domestic violence and related trauma to achieve safety, stability, and overall well-being. Join in a hands-on planting project and learn more about the New Garden Society's work providing horticulture training for incarcerated students in the Greater Boston area.


A Tribute to Dr. King // Calderwood Hall
12:30-1:15 pm & 1:30-2:15 pm


Jazz musician and educator Gregory Groover, Jr. is proud to present A Tribute to Dr. King, a modern interpretation of Dr. Martin Luther King's speeches through the sounds of jazz, gospel, and spoken word. This 45-minute performance will showcase music from Groover's album Negro Spiritual Songbook Volume I, as well as premiere unreleased arrangements that will feature the voices of the Hamilton-Garrett Youth Choir.


JR X TIME Live Mural // Calderwood Hall
3-3:30 pm & 4-4:30 pm


Don't miss this traveling art installation created by French artist JR and TIME Magazine, which gives a face to the full and complex spectrum of views on guns in America. Audience participation is encouraged.


8 Legs // Courtyard
2-2:45 pm & 3:15-4 pm


Latin Jazz by 8 Legs, a New England Conservatory student quartet presented by the Department of Community Performances and Partnerships, features Erez Dessel on piano, Andrew Bedard on tenor sax, Alex Bilodeau on bass, and Sebastian Garzon on drums.
