Greater Ashmont Main Street and Mandorla Music Events are very pleased to co-present the 2019-2020 Dot Jazz Series at Peabody Hall in the Parish of All Saints, Ashmont.
Our January concert will feature keyboard player and bandleader Nina Ott. Nina is a jazz pianist/organist and composer originally from Detroit. She began playing piano at age 7. Nina performs as a bandleader and side-woman in various projects and has worked with musicians from many genres. Nina will play keyboard instruments, and will be joined by Christopher Lopes (Jeff Parker Trio, Astronomico) on bass, Dean Johnston aka The Dux (Club d'Elf, Neighbor) on drums, and Grammy-winning percussionist Eguie Castrillo on congas. The quartet plays experimental original music with deep roots in jazz and Afro-Cuban traditions.
Nina has performed at the San Jose Jazz Festival, Detroit African American Festival, the Shalin Liu in Rockport, the Stanford Jazz Festival and other venues throughout the US, Europe and Asia. In addition to being a performer and bandleader, Nina has been on faculty at Berklee and the Stanford Jazz Workshop and has taught workshops for San Francisco Jazz Organization, Rockport Music and others.
