Come join Women Accelerators on February 12th (6:30-8:30 pm) for a seminar ("It Takes More Than a Diversity Officer") about diversity in academia. In recent years, many institutions have hired a diversity officer and, in some cases, supported the opening of a fully staffed diversity office or center. As beneficial as this can be for our communities, we have learned that this alone will not “fix” the lack of diversity in academia. In this talk by Dr. Alexis Stokes of Harvard SEAS, we will focus on the collaborative and intentional efforts of administration, faculty, students, staff, and researchers to create and sustain an environment where marginalized identities have access, can thrive, and feel welcomed academia. The event will be held at the Broad Institute, Olympus Room (1st floor). This will be followed by an interactive Q & A portion and networking session with Alexis and other attendees.
Registration is required, sign-in upon arrival. Early registration ($15) ends on February 5; registration fee after that date is $20. Appetizers and wine will be provided.
