Have you ever wondered what kind of food the Romans ate? Archaeological and literary evidence reveal that Ancient Roman cuisine was diverse, unique, and yet often not so different from things we still enjoy today. In fact (despite the lack of certain ingredients, such as tomatoes!), Roman food could be downright delicious. After investigating the staples of the Roman pantry, students will make three ancient recipes derived from Latin primary sources, including an herbed cheese spread, a hearty grain-based porridge with vegetables, and a sweet. We will also enjoy an ancient soft drink and a surprisingly familiar Roman snack. Instructor: Andrew Coletti

The cost of tuition includes all food materials and fees.
