Design for Diversity: the Aga Khan Award for Architecture Exhibit

Design for Diversity: the Aga Khan Award for Architecture highlights the 6 winners and shortlisted works from the 2014-2016 cycle of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The projects on display were selected from more than 300 entries and competed for prizes totaling one million dollars.

Now in its 13th cycle, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture is a program of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), a philanthropic organization that supports a wide range of activities aimed at the preservation and promotion of the material and spiritual heritage of Muslim societies. Established by His Highness the Aga Khan in 1977, the triennial Award is regarded as one of the most important honors in the field and granted to projects—from slum upgrading to high rise “green” buildings—that not only celebrate architectural excellence but also improve the overall quality of life of their surrounding communities.

The exhibit will present architectural works that provide for people’s physical, social, and economic needs, while responding to their cultural expectations. Buildings and structures that address pluralistic communities and bring together diverse populations will also be highlighted in the show.

Admission is FREE and open to the public until September 23:

-Monday through Friday from 10:00 am–6:00 pm*
-Weekends and holidays from 10:00 am–5:00 pm

*The exhibit will be closed on Thursday 9/20 after 12 pm

Design for Diversity: the Aga Khan Award for Architecture is presented in collaboration with the Aga Khan Council for the United States and in cooperation with the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the AIA DC.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

BSA Space is located in the Atlantic Wharf building at 290 Congress Street, Suite 200, Boston, MA 02210.

Public transportation: BSA Space is only two blocks from South Station, on the Red Line.

Parking: Pay parking is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the Atlantic Wharf Parking Garage at 280 Congress Street. To inquire about current parking rates, call the garage office at 617-603-7195. Discounted parking is available to BSA Space visitors on weekdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm; before paying for parking at the pay kiosk, bring your ticket to the second floor reception desk. Discounts cannot be applied after 5:00 pm or before 9:00 am.
