Keep your clothing in rotation longer and connect more deeply with what you wear through the craft of visible mending! Visible mending is an approach to garment repair that prioritizes artistry and originality over invisibility. During this workshop, you’ll learn how to repair holes, reinforce thin areas, and cover stains using darning, a process of reweaving damaged fabric.


In the first part of class, you'll learn about various mending tools and materials, and have the opportunity to create a practice sampler of techniques. We’ll discuss how to assess damage to clothing to determine the best approach to use, along with how to make color and design decisions. Later you'll have the opportunity apply your new darning skills to one or more garments brought with you from home.


Level: Suitable for all experience levels.
