Crows, ravens, and blue jays are more than just backyard regulars—they’re among the most intelligent birds on the planet. This workshop dives into the world of corvids, exploring their problem-solving abilities, social behavior, mimicry, and their deep roots in human folklore and literature. Learn how to tell them apart and what their presence means in both science and story. Use real data to solve a "corvid cognition challenge"—a hands-on puzzle mimicking how these birds use tools or problem-solve in the wild, followed by a short group discussion on how we view "intelligence" in animals with readings and folklore connections from Poe to Abenaki mythology.
