Cast iron skillets are one of the chef's favorite cookware because of their unparalleled heat retention and non-stick properties. Through a mix of demonstrations and hands-on cooking, students will learn how to optimize temperature when cooking a variety of proteins and vegetables. We'll talk about different types of cast iron pans and how to buy, use, maintain, and – most importantly – season them. The class will end with a meal cooked up entirely with cast iron.
