Have you ever wondered what the food was like in Ancient Rome? And not just the food of Roman Emperors: What did regular, everyday Romans used to eat?

Let's take a journey back in time and experience a surprisingly familiar, yet unfamiliar cuisine. In this class, we'll learn how to make and enjoy a three-course Ancient Roman dinner, using recipes drawn from ancient primary sources. We'll also learn about the fundamental staples of the Roman pantry, and how Rome's food continues to be reflected in the food we eat today.

Your host, Andrew, is a writer an educator with more than 10 years experience recreating historical recipes. The class will be hosted at his home and will include hands-on cooking and a three-course meal, plus snacks and a non-alcoholic beverage. Guests may bring their own beverage if desired.

No prior knowledge of Ancient Rome (or cooking) required! Toga optional.

What we'll make:

- Roman herb/cheese dip, served with bread

- baked fish, served with vegetable side dishes

- Roman cheesecake for dessert
