CONTEMPORARY NARRATIVES showcases the work of five cartoonists working within the autobiographical genre. Karl Stevens is a visual artist specializing in narrative art through comic strips, illustration, and oil paintings. His work has frequently appeared in The New Yorker, The Village Voice, and The Boston Globe.

He is the author of 8 graphic novels including PENNY: A GRAPHIC MEMOIR published by Chronicle Books in 2021, promoted by David Sedaris on two of his recent book tours, and MOTHER NATURE which was an adaptation of a film script by Jamie Lee Curtis and Russell Goldman. He lives in Boston with his wife and two cats.
