“The Weir” marks a historic moment for Boston theater: this is the first time McPherson’s haunting and celebrated play has received a full production anywhere in the city. Set in a traditional Irish pub on a stormy night, the play follows a group of locals who trade ghost stories steeped in Irish folklore. A young woman from Dublin named Valerie arrives and offers a story of her own that changes everything. Tender, eerie, and deeply human, “The Weir” is widely regarded as one of the finest Irish plays of the last thirty years. Directed and produced by Jill Tokac, the production runs April 10–12, 2026 at The Foundry, 101 Rogers Street,
Cambridge, MA.
The cast features Derry Woodhouse as Jack, Bradley Belanger as Brendan, Matty Finn as Jim, Noah Braunstein as Finbar, and Julia Hertzberg as Valerie, with stage management by Carlisle Robbins and production support from Lizzy Pease, Alana Corrigan, and the HCE Players Board.
