OAK Long Bar + Kitchen (OAK) is partnering with Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey to host a complimentary whiskey tasting on Juneteenth from 5 to 7 p.m. Guests are invited to sip and explore a selection from the award-winning portfolio while learning about the remarkable legacy of Nearest Green, the world’s first-known African American master distiller. Uncle Nearest was the first spirits brand in the world to be named after a Black American and has earned the distinction of being the most awarded bourbon and Tennessee whiskey from 2019 through 2024. Featured pours at the sampling will include: Tennessee Whiskey, 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, 1856 100 Proof Whiskey, Straight Rye Whiskey, and Single Barrel Whiskey.
In addition, OAK is offering a special Juneteenth cocktail throughout June: the Shelbyville Lemonade ($20), crafted with Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey, dry curaçao, agave, soda water, and lemon. Named after Shelbyville, Tennessee, home to the Uncle Nearest distillery. $1 from every order supports Jaylen Brown’s 7uice Foundation, empowering youth and communities of color.
Can’t visit OAK in June? The bar carries Uncle Nearest year-round for whiskey connoisseurs. A 2oz. pour of Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch is available for $16. Expect a long, smooth finish with lingering notes of cinnamon, dark chocolate, oak tannins, and maple syrup.
