A RISE POP-UP EVENT CURATED BY SHEA ROSE
Community Sings™ brings people of all ages and skill levels together to create beautiful and empowering music. Led by Dr. Ysaÿe Maria Barnwell, formerly of Sweet Honey In The Rock, participants will sing rhythms, chants and songs from African and African American traditions. No experience is necessary. The only prerequisite is a love of music and song! Come and be moved by the power of music in community.

LECTURE
Why, how, when and for whom do we make music? Depending on your world view, the answers may differ widely. We will explore these questions as an introduction to the music created by African Americans.
