In a year when nothing was guaranteed—not even the opportunity to sit in a classroom—GBH News offers an intimate look at how COVID shaped the lives of three Boston-area high school seniors. Meet Anne Laurie Pierre, a senior at Everett High, who holds tight to her dream of becoming the first in her family to go to college as COVID upends the health and stability of her family; Thomas White, a Boston Latin track star focused on competition that becomes increasingly elusive as COVID rates rise; and Bridget Donovan, a Framingham High senior whose struggles with mental health are exacerbated by the isolation of online school and the absence of her beloved theater group. The 30-minute retrospective told through student video diaries, text messages and traditional documentary-style film follows the students from their first day of school through graduation. The premiere will be followed by a live discussion with the students and GBH News producers who documented the students’ year in real time for our COVID and the Classroom series.
“Class of COVID” will premiere Monday, June 21 at 7:30 pm on GBH 2. It will also stream live and be followed by a discussion with the students and producers on GBH News Facebook and YouTube pages.
