Mandarin Oriental, Boston, the Five-Star luxury hotel located in Boston’s Back Bay, is celebrating its company’s Asian heritage and the Chinese Lunar New Year on Saturday, February 10th.
Members of the media are invited to gather images and b-roll of the lively lion dance from 2:00PM to 2:30PM. The lion dance will be performed by Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy. It has been part of Chinese culture for thousands of years and is performed on auspicious occasions such as Chinese New Year to chase away evil spirits and bring happiness, longevity, and good luck. The lion dancers will be accompanied by drum and cymbal musicians to celebrate the Year of the Dragon.
The Year of the Dragon runs from February 10, 2024 through January 28, 2025, and is predicted to be a year of transformation, innovation and prosperity. The Dragon is the fifth sign in Chinese astrology, and it is a symbol of power, and energy. People born in the Year of the Dragon are said to be goal-oriented, romantic and visionary leaders. They are most compatible with Dragons and Rats. A common strength is they often attract others with their charisma. The element attached to this year’s Dragon is wood which provides momentum and leadership.
