Cambridge Forum looks at the current situation in Hong Kong and the Chinese government’s crackdown in response.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 11 AT 7 PM
First Parish Church, 1446 Massachusetts Ave. Cambridge

Hong Kong has been in turmoil since June when pro-democracy demonstrators took to the streets to protest against residents being extradited to mainland China. This policy was finally withdrawn on September 4. But is it too little, too late? Protestors’ demands now reflect a desire for greater democratic reform. Teng Biao, a human rights lawyer, Kyle Olbert an activist, and Uyghur-American Ambassador Salih Hudayar will discuss the implications of China’s policies both inside and outside its mainland with regard to its ethnic minorities and anyone else who resists its oppressive “counter-terrorism” measures.
