As we move further into Fall, peak foliage moves farther south, and I'm moving with it. We'll be hiking West Rattlesnake Mt, just north of Squam Lake. The weather down there will be a partly sunny 60 degree patch in between a few cloudy days - perfection!


This will be a slower paced hike, with a long lounge at the peak to enjoy ourselves and take in the sun and foliage. Anyone into meditation is welcome to practice when we stop. If you are looking to go fast, not take your time enjoying the scenery, or go off on your own, this is not the hike for you!


The hike is about 2 miles with 500 ft of elevation gain, so this is as much a sight-seeing excursion as it is a hike. I'm working off an injury so this was a decent fit. We could also bag East Rattlesnake, adding another 1.7 miles, if my injury is holding up and we're all interested. If you're recovering, relatively new to hiking, or just looking for a relaxed day-trip, this is for you!
