Artist and educator Joe Scanlan will present a commissioned talk in conjunction with Heimo Zoberning: chess painting. In his talk he will discuss Heimo Zobernig’s previous work with language, and conversations with the exhibitions’s curator. Scanlan’s work looks at architecture and design, art history and language, politics and persona, undercut with dark humor and institutional critique.
About the Speaker
Joe Scanlan’s work is included in the public collections of Tate Modern, London; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; the Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven; the Stedelijk Museum Voor Aktuele Kunst, Ghent; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago. He has taught in the Visual Arts at Princeton University since 2009 and has been published internationally in Artforum, Frieze, and Parkett, amongst others.
