Chameleon Arts Ensemble resumes its popular Up Close series with a string trio program centered on Bach featuring violinist Robyn Bollinger, violist Scott Woolweaver, and cellist Rafael Popper-Keizer. The Goldberg Variations stands as a pillar of western music both for its transcendent beauty and for the wonder of Bach’s invention. Hear it anew in an epic string trio arrangement that highlights its striking counterpoint, vast architecture, and spiritual depth. Alfred Schnittke pays homage to the master as he too blurs the line between emotion and art with his String Trio, and Mozart used Bach’s Prelude and Fugue, BWV 883 as a model to hone his skills.

The performance will take place in Mary Norton Hall at Old South Church, transformed into an intimate cabaret setting with table seating and refreshments, and the concert will be hosted by Artistic Director Deborah Boldin. Tickets are $47, with $5 off for students and seniors. For more information or to order tickets, please call 617-427-8200 or visit http://www.chameleonarts.org.
