The Chameleon Arts Ensemble presents an afternoon of first piano trios featuring violinist Ayano Ninomiya, cellist Rafael Popper-Keizer and pianist Elizabeth Schumann. Ms. Ninomiya was recently praised in The Boston Globe: “The audience whooped, whistled, and shouted with delight at her feats of virtuosity.” The New York Times called Mr. Popper-Keizer “imaginative and eloquent” and The Boston Musical Intelligencer noted “Schumann commanded without overshadowing...her playing by turns limpid and barrelhouse.”
Beethoven’s sparkling Opus One gives nod both to the previous generation and the high drama to come. Similarly, Leon Kirchner’s first trio established him as a latter-day Romantic and a master of the modernist idiom. Brahms’ youthful, exuberant Piano Trio No. 1, revised later in the master’s hand, is one of the most transcendent works in the repertoire.

The Goethe-Institut will be transformed into an intimate cabaret setting with table seating and a complimentary glass of wine, and the concert will be hosted by Artistic Director Deborah Boldin.
