Chairful Where You Sit, a one-day outdoor art installation and fundraiser for the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture, traditionally coincides with Porchfest and takes place in a festive gathering at historic Uncle Sam Plaza, in the heart of the Arlington Center Cultural District. An auction of artistically transformed chairs and other small furniture items rescued from basements and curbs has supported public art in in Arlington since 2012, and saved over 400 chairs from landfill.
Due to Covid-19, the event was re-envisioned as an online event, to be conducted on the Bidding Owl online auction platform. However, on Sunday August 23, for one afternoon only, several of the pieces will also be on display in Arlington’s spacious Winfield Robbins Memorial Garden between Town Hall and the Library on Mass Ave.
Access will be limited, contactless, and require an RSVP, and the pieces spaced far apart to maintain safe social distancing.
Two dozen regional artists have contributed wonderfully decorated works to the auction. Be sure to preview them and bid on your favorites between August 24-30 at BiddingOwl.com/ArtsArlington !
To attend, please RSVP for a half-hour reserved time-slot at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0e4ea5a82ea0fc1-chairful2
