CAVA are Peppi Ahrens, guitar, vocals, Mela Schulz, drums, vocals, Lars Paprotta, guitar, bass. Musically they swing hard towards garage and punk, dirty guitar riffs, fuzz, distortion, tons of feedback, but with melodic vocals.
They channel their rage with the status quo through unforgettably powerful, high energy live shows and engage listeners with thoughtful, catchy lyrics (main themes include sexism, classism, capitalism, feminism). The band has sharpened their skills and demonstrated their stamina with over 200 live shows throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland and beyond.
CAVA has been making music since 2020 and released their second full-length album titled, Powertrip, to critical acclaim in November 2024. On Powertrip, CAVA set out to pose and answer questions like: Who’s in power? How is it used and applied? And how the hell can we empower ourselves during these times, when we often feel overwhelmed and powerless?
CAVA at Midway Café is part of Alle gegen Alles. Punk@50, a project of the Goethe-Institutes in the United States and Mexico marking the 50th anniversary of punk through a series of exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, and discussions that focus on punk as a subculture, protest movement, and catalyst for self-determination.
