Cask ale is a traditional British style of serving beer; beer is drawn out of the keg by hand and served at a slightly different carbonation level and temperature than normal draft beer to bring out new flavors and aromas. Every Thursday, we tap a fresh pin (keg) of this deliciousness!

This week, we're pouring:

Beer Name: Ruby Rye
Style: Mild
ABV: 4.3%
IBU: 22
Color: We were shooting for a nice deep red, but apparently we're bad at colors because this is about as brown as you can get.

Cheese Pairing: Young Manchego.
Food Pairing: Elk jerky.
Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): "Reason to Leave" by Hillstomp
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "One Hit Two Hit" by Red Fang.
Best Occasion to Drink: When your beach day just got rained out but you were already primed to be lazy as heck all day anyway

Brewers' Notes: Even though the warm days are approaching and that's the season for light 'n' airy summer beers, we like to mix it up with something a little more towards the middle of the beer color spectrum. And, almost as importantly, we've been doing casks for months and have somehow managed to neglect the old-skool English styles that are so closely tied to cask. And also we like rye. Three birds, one stone. Boom.

BONE UP BREWING COMPANY //
A Small Brewery Making Beer For Your Mouth in Scenic Everett, Massachusetts.

Bone Up Brewing is the Boston area's smallest brewery! Husband-and-wife brewing duo Jared and Liz Kiraly crank out fresh new beer every week from their 3-barrel nano brewery and taproom. Inspired by old-school Belgian farmhouse brewing while celebrating American styles, their ales combine the heart and soul from each of these beloved beer cultures. Four year round beers are always available, but the gears of Bone Up are always turning, so you can expect an ever-changing array of one offs, seasonal releases, and experimental batches.

Located in the heart of Everett's budding Fermentation District, the taproom is open Wednesday through Sunday and features full pours, flights, and growlers from ten rotating tap lines. In addition to a weekly cask, the taproom hosts games and an ongoing series of food vendors and pop ups. Outside of the occasional tasting, the best place to find Bone Up is right at the source!
