Cask ale is a traditional British style of serving beer; beer is drawn out of the keg by hand and served at a slightly different carbonation level and temperature than normal draft beer to bring out new flavors and aromas.
This week, we're pouring:
Beer Name: Fermento-tainment!
Style: Best Bitter
Cask Addition: Empire dry hop
Color: The same color as the fallen leaves lining the forest floor.
Cheese Pairing: Epoisses
Food Pairing: Pork barbecue.
Music Pairing (Jimbo's Choice): "Teenage Wedding" by The Weisstronauts
Music Pairing (Jared's Choice): "Get It Together" by The Weisstronauts
Best Occasion to Drink: At our birthday party while you're listening to The Weisstronauts!
Brewers' Notes: Despite all the time we've spent coming up with music pairings for beer, up until a recent interview we'd never thought of flipping that script and making a beer to pair with music (though like all great ideas, it seems obvious in retrospect). Then, after instantly and unanimously deciding that The Weisstronauts would be the best band to base a beer on, we went and did that thing I just said! And so, not unlike the album we shamelessly stole the title from, Fermento-tainment has an easygoing nature that belies its complexity. You won't be disappointed if you just go ahead and drink it, but you'll be rewarded if you focus up and dig a little deeper.
BONE UP BREWING COMPANY //
A Small Brewery Making Beer For Your Mouth in Scenic Everett, Massachusetts.
Bone Up Brewing is the Boston area's smallest brewery! Husband-and-wife brewing duo Jared and Liz Kiraly crank out fresh new beer every week from their 3-barrel nano brewery and taproom. Inspired by old-school Belgian farmhouse brewing while celebrating American styles, their ales combine the heart and soul from each of these beloved beer cultures. Four year round beers are always available, but the gears of Bone Up are always turning, so you can expect an ever-changing array of one offs, seasonal releases, and experimental batches.
Located in the heart of Everett's budding Fermentation District, the taproom is open Thursday through Sunday and features full pours, flights, and growlers from ten rotating tap lines. In addition to a weekly cask, the taproom hosts games and an ongoing series of food trucks and pop ups. Outside of the occasional tasting, the best place to find Bone Up is right at the source!
