Want to help clean a beach and brainstorm solutions to plastic pollution this weekend?
Then please come join us at Carson Beach where we will be working with Dorchester’s Girl Scout Troop 68277 (of Boston Bag Ordinance Fame!) to run a public beach cleanup, trash sort, and data collection. We’ll be following up the cleanup with a guided discussion about what we find and a brainstorming session on different ways that we can stop trash and pollution from getting onto the beach and into the ocean in the first place!
As always, look out for the Surfrider flag to find the exact meetup location. Necessary cleanup supplies will be provided, but it’s a good idea to bring a pair of work gloves that you are comfortable using, as well as some drinking water (in a reusable bottle, please!).
The plan is to meet up by 12 noon for the distribution of cleanup gear and brief safety briefing before starting work.
Parking: There are some metered lots along the beach as well as on-street parking on William J Day Blvd and Colombia Rd (City of Boston meters are free on Sundays, with no time limits enforced).
Public Transit: JFK/UMass Station (10 minute walk) – Red Line, Commuter Rails (Greenbush, Kingston/Plymouth, Middleborough/Lakeville), Buses (5, 8, 16, 41)
