The New England Browncoats and the Coolidge Corner Theatre announce the 10th annual "Can’t Stop the Serenity" Event


The New England Browncoats present the 10th Annual "Can't Stop the Serenity" Event at The Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA at midnight on Saturday, September 26th, 2015. To benefit Equality Now and Rosie’s Place.


"Can’t Stop the Serenity" is a global fundraising effort featuring charity screenings of Joss Whedon’s 2005 film Serenity to benefit Equality Now. In the last nine years, the New England Browncoats have raised over $30,000 and in total over $1M has been raised for Equality Now around the world. Fans of Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and director of Marvel’s The Avengers) show his first feature film Serenity to honor him and to raise money for his favorite charity, Equality Now. Equality Now (http://equalitynow.org/) works to end violence and discrimination against women and girls around the world through the mobilization of public
pressure.


In addition to raising money for Equality Now, we will also be collecting non-perishable food items for Rosie’s Place (www.rosiesplace.org), a sanctuary for poor and homeless women that offers emergency and long-term assistance to women. In the past seven years the New England Browncoats have collected over 2 tons of non-perishable food for local charities. Anyone that brings a donation will be eligible for raffle prizes.


Tickets for this event will be $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show. Tickets are available at the Coolidge Corner Theatre Box Office or online at http://www.coolidge.org.
