This Sketching Workshop is a fun and useful one-day class that concentrates on methods to sketch versal and decorated capital letters, as well as thumbnail sketches for layout purposes. A great day of pencil exercises that are especially useful as a way of recording designs from historic examples. This class is designed to be the first of a four-part series of one-day workshops that look at different components that go into creating an illuminated manuscript such as those created in the Middle Ages:  Sketching Workshop, Visit to the Boston Public Library Rare Books Room, Versal and Lombardic Caps, and Manuscript Gilding. This course can be taken alone or combined with the others.
