The Griffin Museum is pleased to showcase the work of Caleb Cain Marcus, the juror of this year’s Handmade Photobook exhibition.

A Thousand Rectangles: On Design and the Expression of Art investigates designing books as art—art defined as something that creates a space, for looking, seeing and feeling that empowers and amplifies ideas.

A series of interventions explore what art is within the context of books. Using commercially published books designed by his design studio, Luminosity Lab, Cain Marcus deconstructs and dissociates books from their original form to explore their beauty, magnetism and ability to inspire experiences.
