The students of the Graduate Program on Religion are pleased to bring you a Graduate Conference on Religion and Technology. The presentations at this conference will showcase a wide variety of disciplinary and theoretical perspectives at the intersection of religious studies and technology, including the changing face of religious practice in the digital age and the deep history of the entanglement between religiosity and ritual technologies.
Keynote Speaker: Kathryn Lofton
Kathryn Lofton is a historian of religion who has written extensively about capitalism, celebrity, sexuality, and the concept of the secular. In her work, she has examined the ways the history of religion is constituted by the history of popular culture and the emergence of corporations. She is the author of Oprah: The Gospel of an Icon (2011) and Consuming Religion (2017).
