The printing press has played a part in protest and politics from its very beginning. Broadsides and handbills spread the word before Twitter and TikTok, and the Declaration of Independence was distributed by printers to every colony.
Come print with antique wood type on a working letterpress and take home a protest poster that you printed yourself!
Chris Moore is a printmaker, glassblower, physicist, and data scientist based in Arlington, MA.
Reflex Letterpress is a print studio located in the Stove Factory building in Charlestown, Boston. Specializing in production, design, and instruction using antique lead type on vintage hand-pulled machinery, the studio creates invitations, menus, and broadsides printed on full-rag artist papers. Founded by master printer Ted Ollier, Reflex Letterpress offers professional printing services as well as hands-on experiences, giving clients the opportunity to design and print their own projects. The studio also offers letterpress classes and press rentals for artists and enthusiasts looking to explore the craft.
