Join journalist and author Patrick L. Kennedy as he talks about his new book, Bricklayer Bill. After unearthing his great uncle's unpublished memoir, Kennedy discovered a colorful character who lived a tumultuous life, beyond his multiple marathon wins (including the 1917 Boston Marathon). Bill typified the colorful, newly emerging culture and working-class ethic of competitive long-distance running before it became a professionalized sport, and his exploits take us back to another time, when bricklayers, plumbers, and printers could take the stage as star athletes.
