WELCOME TENT
First time walking or need to register on Walk day? Please stop by the Welcome Tent. Our team will answer questions, ensure waivers are complete, and help you make the most of the Walk.
WALK ROUTE
Our Walk Route will follow the Boston side of the Charles River Esplanade and we will be offering a shorter Family-Friendly route option as well. Remember to follow the Breakthrough T1D signs. Volunteers will also be in place to help you navigate.
Flag Ceremony
Grab a flag that represents your T1D connection– whether you live with type 1 diabetes, love someone who does, or walk for T1D breakthroughs. During the opening ceremony, we’ll wave our flags together in a powerful moment of unity that shows the strength of our community.
FOOD, FUN & ENTERTAINMENT
Arrive early to connect with your team, connect with the T1D community, explore activities, and visit vendors. If you’re living with T1D, pick up your T1D identifier at the Welcome Tent to proudly show you’re a champion!
The Breakthrough T1D Walk sites are cutting down on single-use plastic bottles. Water refill stations will be located along the route and in the food tent, so please consider bringing your own reusable bottle.
While we provide as many refreshments as possible, please understand that we have a limited quantity of food and beverages available, and we are not able to meet all dietary needs. In order for you to fully enjoy the activities of the day, we ask that you please come prepared with your own water bottles and snacks for low blood sugar treatment.
The Activities Tent will be up and running with various activities. Take a photo at our step and repeat and then post it on your favorite social media site using #GNEWalks #Boston.
Don’t forget to bring Rufus or your favorite stuffed animal to visit our Rufus Clinic!
If you would like to be considered for our t-shirt contest, please bring an extra Team t-shirt to Walk Day. We will be hanging all submissions and having live voting. The winner will be announced following the Walk.
Visit our Resource Row to learn more about Breakthrough T1D, our research efforts, and how you can become involved locally. You can visit with our sponsors and community partners here as well.
