About This Event

Everyone talks about working for a startup these days, but how on earth do you get started? General Assembly and Planted are pairing up to bring you actionable tips and tricks for breaking into startups from those who know best!

MAKING THE TRANSITION

The startup world is unlike any other, and the differences in culture and expectations can be surprising. If you're considering a big career transition into startups, this event is for you! We're bringing startup employees who started out in an array of industries, and are now working at some of the most fast-paced, high-growth startups in Boston. They'll talk about how they presented themselves in the application process, what surprised them in the transition, and their best advice for someone hoping to make the same move. Come by and start off your job search on the right foot!

About the Speakers

Connie Wong
Co-Founder & COO, Planted

Connie Wong is co-founder and COO of Planted, a startup re-imagining talent matchmaking for growing companies and recent grads. Prior to Planted, Connie made the jump from management consulting to leading product development at MeetMoi, a mobile dating startup that was acquired by Match.com. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, she loves hiking, biking and all things outdoors.

Molly Schuh
Student Success Advisor, Testive

Molly Schuh works as a Student Success Advisor at Testive. She works directly with parents, students and coaches to ensure a smooth and effective prep process. Before Testive, Molly worked for nearly a decade in the hospitality industry for Hilton Worldwide, SeaWorld Entertainment and The Walt Disney Company. Outside of work, Molly enjoys making homemade soft pretzels, planning her next vacation, and hanging out with her dog, Charlie.

Testive helps busy students raise their SAT/ACT scores higher, faster. With personalized learning software developed at MIT and 1-on-1 instruction from top 1% coaches, Testive students stay motivated and accountable. Testive's free software is used by over 150,000 students globally and Testive's coaching program has results 3x the industry average.

Gretta Hunt
Account Executive, Datadog

Gretta Hunt currently works as an Account Executive at Datadog, where she is responsible for researching, identifying, qualifying and progressing potential opportunities through the sales cycle to close. Prior to Datadog, Gretta was at another tech company in Boston called VMTurbo, where she was a sales development representative. Throughout her time at VMTurbo, she learned the skills to eventually become an Account Executive carrying quota (plenty of cold calling to nail down the messaging!!). Gretta graduated from Emmanuel College in 2015 with a degree in Communications. Outside of work, she has a passion for music and enjoys going to concerts as much as she can, and also enjoys running the Charles River.

Datadog helps software developers and web operators understand and turn their IT data into actionable insight. Their platform brings together data from all different applications, servers, databases and tools to help dev & ops teams better monitor complex infrastructures.
