Long before the infamous 1692 Salem witchcraft trials, the shadows of witchcraft loomed over Boston. Join the Boston Witchcraft Walk, a premier historical walking tour, that explores the chilling reality of colonial life, superstition, and the witch executions that gripped the city of Boston.
Boston was the site of the second witchcraft execution in New England in 1648. Over the next 40 years, four more women would face the gallows.
On this 90-minute tour, you will:
Meet Goody Glover: Learn the tragic story of the last woman executed for witchcraft in Massachusetts four years before the Salem hysteria erupted.
The Mather Connection: Discover the pivotal roles played by Reverends Increase and Cotton Mather and how Boston’s religious elite influenced the accusations that would eventually impact Salem.
Explore Historic Sites: Walk the streets of downtown Boston to see where victims lived, the location of the former jail, and the final resting places of those involved in the trials.
Colonial Beliefs: Understand the 17th-century mindset where pacts with the devil were considered a tangible threat to the community.
You’ll learn about the hanging location, where the victims lived, who is interred in the cemetery, see where the jail was located and more.This captivating tour will paint the picture of the colonial belief that people could sign a pact with the devil and do harm to their neighbors with witchcraft.
Tickets are $28 for adults, $25 for students, seniors & 1st responders, $20 for children 6-12 and free for 5 and under.
