Starting June 19, Boston is letting patrons sip and stroll with drinks in hand across two new Social Districts downtown. Mayor Michelle Wu's office rolled out the open container zones at Union and Marshall Streets and on Temple Place, running through July 31 as part of a summer packed with FIFA World Cup 2026 events, Sail Boston, and Boston 250 programming.
Temple Place Social District
Located in Downtown Crossing, home to a stretch of ten restaurants. Open 9am to 11pm Monday through Saturday and 10am to 9pm on Sundays, June 19 through July 31. Details: https://downtownboston.org/social-district

Union-Marshall Street Social District
Located in the Blackstone Block Historic District. Open 9am to midnight Monday through Saturday and 10am to 9pm on Sundays, June 19 through July 31.
